Recicled parachute

This covering-flexible structure was made for Reina Loba Festival 2017, in Os Blancos, Galicia. The aim was to cover as much space as posible with very few materials and just two posts. Tensegrity principles came to oue minds as a posible way to solve this problem. Two compressed bars are located at the ends of a recicled parachute, that offers the shadow.  in this occasion the fabric is not assuming any traction effort. The whole structure is supported thanks to the network of tensioned cables. Leaving the parachute almost free offers a nice view of waving shapes appearing and dissapearing all the time.

Esta estructura de sombra flexible se hizo para el festival Reina Loba 2017, en Os Blancos (Galicia). La intención para el proyecto fue cubrir todo el espacio posible con los materiales disponibles, que eran mínimos, y dos postes.Pensamos en la posibilidad de resolver este problema mediante una estructura de tensegridad. Se sitúan dos barras comprimidas a los extremos del paracaidas reciclado. En esta ocasión la membrana no asume cargas de tensión. El conjunto se soporta gracias a una red de cables tensionados. Al dejar el paracaídas libre de tracciones, se le permite bailar con el viento, ofreciendo una alegre imagen de formas sinusoidales.

Result

The lifting of the cloth was done during the workshop given at the festival, with the help of all. the result is a solution thought out among all the attendees.

Resultado

El izado de la tela se hizo durante el taller impartido en el festival, con la ayuda de todos. El resultado es un solución pensada y tensada entre todos los asistentes.
