Diligence

Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona (Spain)

This design was made in ETSAV (UPC), faculty of Architecture in Sant Cugat del Vallès, in collaboration with RUSC student assotiation and Investigaciò Canyera, as a part of the workshops week organized by the faculty. The result was the construction of an outdoor pavilion for multiple uses, in which different techniques and knowledge were combined.

the main ribs of the structure are made with cane, and the coverings are made of textile material coming from recycled boat sails. Membrane patterns were calculated with the software Wintess 3, designed by Ramón Sastre, and all the confection was made by the students.

The tension of the fabric combined with the inclination of the arches endows the structure with great stability and spatial quality.

Este diseño se hizo en ETSAV (UPC), en la facultad de Arquitectura de Sant Cugat del Vallès, en colaboración con la asociacion de estudiantes RUSC y con Investigaciò Canyera, cmo parte de la semana de alleres dirigidas por RUSC. El resultado fue la construcción de un pabellón exterior para usos múltiples, en el que se combinaron distintas técnicas.

Las costillas principales de la estructura se hicieron con caña, y las coberturas con material textil procedent de velas de barco recicladas. Los patrones de la membrana se calcularon con el software Wintess 3, diseñado por Ramón Sastre, y la confección fue realizada por los estudiantes.

La tensión de la membrana combinada con la inclinación de los arcos confiere a la estructura gran estabilidad y calidad espacial.
